Wear Something Yellow for everyone who has suffered or who is still suffering because of regulatory corruption that puts profit before patient safety. Wear Something Yellow in support of all the women who have been lied to and misled about the dangers and risks of breast implants. Wear Something Yellow to draw attention to the lack of transparency and accountability in the regulation of medical devices.

Wear Something Yellow for your daughter, sister, mum, nan, auntie, wife, cousin, co-worker or girlfriend. đź’›

PIP Action Campaign was started in 2012 by three women who had PIP implants. Over 6yrs, these three women have connected with hundreds of thousands of others: all lives impacted by breast implants.

Now we are a small international social networking group of women from around the globe affected by breast implants. We are a group of genuinely awesome women who have inspired more groups and more women to speak up about the risks of breast implants and the broken and dangerous international system of implant regulation.

* We discovered that PIP had been BANNED in the USA as far back at 2000, but continued on the global market for more than 10years after that with a CE mark awarded by TUV Rheinland, a large German “Notified Body” with specific duties to check and license surgical implants. We started a legal claim against them.

* We discovered that 20,000 European women signed a petition in 2003 asking the European Parliament to implement safety precautions for women with breast implants. The women campaigned for truthful information on the risks of implants, for working implant registries, research and careful monitoring. We discovered the European Commission had failed to implement any of Parliament’s recommendations. So we started a complaint against them.

* We conducted our own surveys of women with PIP implants and we discovered many of us had been struggling with unexplained and often severe symptoms that led us to Accident and Emergency departments with chest pains, breathing difficulties, muscle spasms, auto-immune illness, Connective tissue disease, symptoms of menopause, fertility problems, difficulty breast-feeding, fibromyalgia, CFS, and every symptom listed on the manufacturer’s list of known adverse events linked to breast implants.

We started groups on social media to like, love, support, comment and share.

* We realised the authorities are in denial about the chemical composition of PIP implants. They have failed to identify most of the ingredients in PIP.

* We discovered staff at PIP were not properly qualified, some years not a drop of authorised silicone was delivered. It was revealed that manufacturing processes were unknown, how and what was used to cure PIP silicone, what materials, adhesives and sterilisers were used.

We began to see photos of engorged lymph nodes, swellings, peri-prosthetic fluid, botched surgeries and read posts from women who were suffering.

We were all suffering. đź’”

* Women with PIP died. Some died from what was then called an extremely rare cancer, once entirely ignored and dismissed by doctors and surgeons. Now that killer cancer is known as Breast Implant Cancer or BIA-ALCL and as more surgeons become aware of the potentially fatal disease, more and more cases have emerged.

* We learned that women with PIP also died from suicide. Women’s pain from PIP implants was being dismissed, no help was available. Women were desperate with nowhere to turn.

Governments and authorities wanted everyone to believe that PIP was an undetectable fraud and luckily no-one got hurt. Hundreds of thousands of women have been forced into numerous surgeries and have suffered injuries and trauma.

* PIP implants leak and are dangerous. One in every two women with PIP has experienced a rupture, all have experienced leaks as PIP implants spill toxins and carcinogens into the blood stream, across the placenta, delivering endocrine disruptor chemicals to every organ of the body. PIP is a Public Health Scandal and it turns out to be just the tip of the iceberg of global Regulatory Corruption.

Now surgeons, hospitals and clinics have seen the undeniable pain, injury, inflammation, trauma and suffering of large numbers of women with PIP implants, some of them have joined us and have become part of the campaign to keep women safe from harmful surgical implants including breast implants, vaginal mesh and contraceptive devices such as Essure. And for a higher standard of proven safety and effectiveness of other surgical implants such as hip replacements and pacemakers.

On the 10th October 2018, following a case made by our trusted French lawyer Laurent Gaudon, we await the judgement of the Cour de Cassation, the French Supreme Court.

The decision of the French appeal court, which found in favour of TUV back in 2015, is under review. TUV claims that it is also a PIP victim. We say that only those who had PIP implants in their bodies because of a CE mark granted by TUV are PIP victims.
